An Educational Guide to Porn: Teaching
Porn is something that a lot of educators want to teach young people about, however many find it too difficult a topic to raise confidently. Hopefully the range of resources and training from Bish has helped.
However for those who understand it’s an important topic but would rather someone else taught it, Bish can offer teaching sessions around porn. This can be in the form of a talk or an interactive workshop. Sessions can cover
- The messages that porn sends out about sex, gender, sexuality and safety
- The legal and ethical aspects of watching, participating in and making porn and sexually explicit materials
- Why porn should not be relied on for sex education
- The problems with DIY porn and ‘sexting’
The teaching materials are those used in the Planet Porn Resource Pack and and those seen at bishuk and it is recommended for an audience over 16 (though we would be guided by the judgement of the practitioner).
The cost is a maximum of £425 per day teaching (or £60 per hour + travel time from central London).
